Start over?

You have files you have not downloaded yet. They will be cleared from this page.

This PDF has a password

The file is unlocked on this device. Your password is never sent anywhere. The smaller file keeps the same password.

How do I make a PDF small enough to email?

Open FilesAll's Reduce PDF size tool, add your PDF and press Compress. FilesAll shrinks the pictures inside and removes data the file does not need, then shows the new size so you can check it fits. It all runs in your browser on your own device, so the PDF is never uploaded anywhere.

How to reduce PDF size in 3 steps

  1. Add your PDF

Press Choose files, or drag the PDF that is too big onto the page.

  2. Press Compress

The Balanced level is picked for you. It works well for most PDFs, with no change you can see.

  3. Check the size and download

Look at the new size. If it is small enough, press Download. Your original file is not changed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get my PDF under 1 MB?

Often, but it depends on what is inside. PDFs made from scans or photos usually shrink a lot. A long document full of pictures may still be too big after compressing, so check the new size before you send it.

My PDF is still too big to email. What can I do?

Try the Strong level, which shrinks pictures further and is part of Pro. Or use Split PDF to break it into smaller parts and send them in separate emails.

Why won't my PDF get any smaller?

A PDF that is mostly typed text is already small, so there is little to remove. If compressing would not save space, FilesAll keeps your original and tells you.

Will the person I send it to be able to open it?

Yes. The smaller file is still a normal PDF that opens in any PDF viewer, on phones and computers, and the text stays sharp and selectable.

Does this make the PDF lower quality?

Only the pictures inside are saved more efficiently. At the Balanced level you will not see a difference at normal size, and the text is not touched at all.

Is FilesAll free?

Yes. You can use FilesAll free every day without signing up, and the tool shows how many free files you have left today. A free account gives you more each day, and Pro removes the daily limit.

Do I need to install anything?

No. FilesAll works in the web browser you already have, on Windows, Mac, Chromebook, iPhone and Android. There is nothing to install, and you do not need an account to start.

Are my files uploaded?

No. FilesAll does all the work inside your browser, on your own device. Your files are never sent to our servers or anyone else's, and they disappear when you close the tab.

Want to check for yourself? Your browser's developer tools list every request this page makes. None of them carries your file.
